I designed box and rules for "Don Quixote, the ingenious hidalgo: a game of wit & strategy". It's a card game based on the famous novel from Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote that will be soon on Kickstarter!

It was my 1st time working on a game where AI was used to generate the illustrations, so it was a learning process. I was able to prepare a few box versions before the final one, where I polished the AI generated illustration of Don Quixote.

I also prepared a short rulebook.

My first attempts to the design were in totally different style than the final version of the cover. Andrea La Rosa, who was my client then, prefer more modern style. That's why we scrapped this version. Although I really liked it!

The process... Box Design

Working with AI generated images is very tricky process. I needed to have eyes wide open to see all of the elements in the picture that needed polishing. Eyes, fingers, joints, hear - all of them were over painted by me, to make more plausible illustration. I couldn't overdo it, so the style would stay the same - because we really like it.

It's not the final version of the rulebook. I wasn't able to finish the project. So I basically did a rulebook and box designs. Although I'm pretty happy with my work on this game.
